Automation technologies have revolutionized the bio-pharmaceutical industry by increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving product quality. Manual handling of samples is time consuming and error prone. Here in we present the utility of robotic liquid handlers to automate time consuming and labor-intensive analytical assays in biologics process development. Glycan profiling of therapeutic proteins requires series of manual steps such as digestion, incubation, and labeling. We used automation technologies to fully automate the sample preparation procedure for glycan testing. Some bioprocess samples require affinity purification before product quality testing. We developed high-throughput affinity purification workflows using robotic liquid handlers.
