Ramisa Fariha is a senior scientist at the Tripathi Lab for Microfluidics and Diagnostics, at Brown University. Born and raised in Narayanganj, Bangladesh, Ramisa is the first Ivy League student from her hometown. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Penn State, where she was the recipient of several accolades, including Freshman of the Year, Best President (for Muslim Students’ Association) recognition by the Multicultural Council, Top 20 Most Active Engineers by Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and the title of Miss Blue and White 2015, to name a few. She was inducted into several honors societies (Lambda Sigma, AED, ODK).
Ramisa joined Brown University in Fall 2018 to pursue her Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Her work focused on assessing the chemosensitivity of 3D breast cancer spheroids using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Currently, she is a senior scientist and Ph.D. candidate working with Dr. Anubhav Tripathi, where her research focuses on the design and development of LC-MS/MS-based diagnostic assays for early detection of reproductive health diseases and therapeutic drug monitoring for clinical applications. She leverages transport phenomena for workflow simplification of microsampling techniques for automation adaptability. Outside the lab, Ramisa showcases incredible leadership with her positions as the Chair of International Advocacy at Brown Graduate Council, founder and President of the South Asian Scholars in STEM (SASS), and a mentor in various capacities. She is an active member of the SLAS Student and Early Career Committee.
