Christopher Plunkett is a Senior Bioengineer at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. He joined Novartis in 2019 and has focused primarily on the development of mechanobiology assays for medium to high throughput experimental designs. His work has included the development of consumables, instrumentation, and cell culture protocols to study the biology of stretch and contractility within various cell types and disease areas. Prior to his role at Novartis, Plunkett completed his master’s thesis in bioengineering at the University of California San Diego in the laboratory of Adam J. Engler Ph.D. His work explored the links between changes in extracellular matrix stiffness and epithelial to mesenchymal transitions in mammary carcinoma spheroids.
