PhD Candidate at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Di Carlo lab focused on developing a novel platform for next generation directed evolution. Using our platform, PicoShells, the high-throughput screening and selection of microbial colonies is enabled through fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS). We are using this platform to bring natural product-producing yeast strains from the lab to biomanufacturing scale; notably yeast that produce monoterpene indole alkaloids.
