Dr. Finola Cliffe is the Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer of Hooke Bio and has been leading their interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers since 2014. Prior to joining Hooke Bio, Finola previously held roles as research scientist in National University of Galway, Ireland and Monaghan Biosciences as well as experience in large pharma with roles in J&J. She has brought the Hooke Bio technology from initial concept at the University of Limerick (UL) to the cutting edge of microphysiological systems (MPS) research. Hooke Bio is a well-established SME with 14 staff members which will triple in size within the next 2 years. She has a patent filed with the European Patent Office & has raised over €12.4M in funding & investment for Hooke Bio to date securing multiple private investments rounds and winning national & international funding awards. Finola graduated with her PhD in Biotechnology from UL in 2010. She has 18 years+ experience in 2D & 3D cell culture (bacterial, fungal and mammalian), biochemical assays & process optimisation.
