PhD Candidate
National University of Singapore, Singapore
I am Arun Kumar, a PhD candidate from Andy Tay group, Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). I am currently working on fabrication of high aspect-ratio nanostraws for high throughput primary immune cell transfection. We engineer high aspect ratio nanostraws as a non-viral transfection system to deliver clinically relevant biomolecules like proteins, nucleic acids and CRISPR/Cas9 RNPs into primary human immune cells. I am interested in micro/nano engineering tools, CAR-T immunotherapy, and cellular technologies. My approach is to devise novel nano-engineering tools to advance immune-medicine.
I was selected as a participant for the 2023 Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) and was selected for the 2019 Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Internship Program. I am a volunteer writer for the Materials Research Society (MRS) Bulletin and regularly contribute science news communication. I love to mentor undergraduates/Master’s students and am a part-time teaching and research assistant at NUS, Singapore.
