Principle Research Scientist - Automation

Having completed my BSc in Biology at the University of Southampton, I joined Syngenta and began studying the uptake and metabolism of agrochemical compounds within fungi and their target crops. After 7 years in the Biokinetics team gaining valuable LCMS experience, I moved into the Biochemistry department in a new role as Automation specialist. While there, I was responsible for converting manual benchtop assays to high throughput automated screens. Much of my work involved the use of Tecan EVO systems integrated with external benchtop kit, using scheduling systems to navigate the varying stabilities of enzymes.
3 years later I made the move to Immunocore as their Principle Automation Scientist. At Immunocore the discovery of T cell engagers requires the screening of 1000's of biomolecules simultaneously, which can only be made possible through automation. Although my work is primarily focused on Protein Engineering, I am exploring automation opportunities across other functions.
