Abstract: Laboratories are challenged to accelerate science while increasing efficiency and reducing costs, risks, and waste. To meet these challenges new ways of work are needed. In this poster we will explore how options in identifying samples can streamline your laboratory operations and provide means for continuous improvement and improved audit trails. Implementing a barcoding system is crucial for automation and can be used in combination with an established LIMS to improve laboratory organization. Various barcoding options are available including blank labels with on-demand label printing systems, pre-printed barcoded labels, and semi-automated or automated equipment that will print and apply barcoded labels. Pre-barcoded labware will be introduced and the methods of implementing it at the various stages of manual and automated workflows will be discussed.
