Todd Thorsen received a BS degree in Biology from UC San Diego, a Masters in Public Health in Infectious Disease from UC Berkeley, and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from Caltech.
From 2002-2009, he was a faculty member in the department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT. Joining the staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 2009, he is a member of the Biological and Chemical Technologies group pursuing research in microfluidics-based engineering, including the design and fabrication of state-of-the-art programmable microfluidic devices, and the exploitation of the microscale physical properties of fluids (thermal, chemical, optical, electrical).
Dr. Thorsen has authored or co-authored 70+ papers, two book chapters, and 40 issued and pending patents in the field of microfluidics, with over 14,000 citations of his published works.
